HabLab is a small firm dedicated solely to building performance.

We have deep roots in building simulation and commissioning. Our clients receive timely and useful answers, not 100 page reports.

We are pretty enthusiastic about building performance and we will try and get you excited too!

PROJECT SUMMARY

Provided value through simulation at all stages of building lifecycle

  • Analyzed HVAC systems including geothermal, radiant floor, DOAS, chillers (heat pump, absorption, water/air cooled), VRF, and traditional RTUs

  • Completed 20+ ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G LEED and Code Compliance Energy Models

  • Studied daylighting performance options by varying glazing type/placement with direct and frequent communication with architect

  • Optimized building performance during occupancy by comparing actual and modeled energy consumption and provided ideas for improvement and on-site support to staff

  • Performed Thermal Comfort analysis to enable optimum design

  • Aided conceptual design with climate specific recommendations

Successfully commissioned over 20 new K-12 schools, clinics, office buildings, and municipal facilities

  • Reviewed HVAC design for energy efficiency and constructability

  • Built custom QA checklists for HVAC equipment installation based on best practices

  • Conducted onsite review of energy systems and communicated issues to contractors

  • Performed extensive onsite performance testing of HVAC and daylighting systems

  • Coordinated issue resolution with building owner, contractors, design team at construction sites and via e-mail/phone while managing tight time frames

Designed Photovoltaic energy systems and provided design build narrative/spec for building owners
